Simple enough really. Of the new transfers who will prove to have been the shrewdest signings. Here is a little shortlist of names I think will achieve big things in their new settings:

Luke Watson - personally I would have loved to see him come to Munster. I think this will be a great signing and a spell out of SA and its politics. Bath have I think found a great player here.

Jerry Collins - much like Elsom to Leinster this is a big name which could turn perrenial underachievers Ospreys into Champions. Its a fine line and this could be decisive.

Morgan Parra - I think that this move to Clermont could be what pushes him into the French #9 jersey. He is moving into a team dubbed underachievers and with a chip on their shoulder.

Louis Picamoles - transferred to Toulouse from Montpellier. This young French backrow can I think form an excellent backrow here with the Galacticos of rugby and really use this as a platform.

Chris Cusiter - will add a lot to a Glasgow side packed with potential. They will represent a real banana skin and have a chance in both their European Pool and Magners playoffs. Cusiter should really help a backline armed with Jackson, Parks, Evans brothers and Morrison to get moving.

What has happened to de Villiers going to Munster now? But he is out of it for a while now injured it looks.

Jerry Collins is the serious black horse- if he feels he fits in, which I will no doubt think- he might be in tune with native Wales/Ospreys, he will be motivated to get his fitness up to the required levels and do the business. Spawney Ospreys if so!.....

De Villiers is still coming - injury diagnosed as cramp as he was recovering from a knee injury already. Im a bit indifferent to his signing. I think that Julien Brugnaut and Felix Jones will actually have just as big an impact on Munster as he (though not commercially). I would have preferred to see Luke Watson come in to supplement an aging backrow than breaking up an excellent centre partnership. I think de Villiers wont be a poor signing but wont live up to expectations im afraid. I also think that Hines for Leinster will be a similar signing brought in to fill Elsoms boots and I think will end up playing a lot out of position 6 instead of at lock. Leo Cullen is their captain, Malcolm O'Kelly is a proven player with 90 caps to his name and Devin Toner will be in an Irish shirt in a few years. He has been signed to merely plug a hole.

I actually really like the players and recruitment policy Ospreys seem to be pursuing. For me though Toulouse have made the best signings this season. Yann David (Centre) - Bourgoin, Census Johnston (Prop) - Saracens, Yoann Maestri (Lock) - Toulon, Louis Picamoles (Number 8) - Montpellier

Even though I am a Scarlets man, I have been for a long time impressed by the main money man at the Ospreys, he seems to know how to play his corner, as well as his very successful business. But if he needs someone to kick Jerry up the rear, I am prepared to do it.

Good to hear de Villiers will be playing in the Magners this season, hope his injury is not too bad and he is not hiding one.

The "money men" arent whats impressing me.

Its the fringe players they are bringing in that are impressing me. they have brought all these Welsh qualified players back to Wales from playing abroad. That is excellent stuff. These are all players who played U21 rugby for Wales. They might not be superstars but they are no amatuers.I think that the Ospreys are going (like Munster and Cardiff) to operate using a Magners team and a Heineken team. For the large clubs this seems the best way forward. We always knew that the flip side of the benefit playoffs bring was that the top clubs would be able to send out second sides more often.
