The course opened its doors in August 2008 and plans are now afoot to introduce the BASE Rugby Strength and Conditioning Programme to a class of 2010.
The 82-times capped Scotland attack coach said: “I’m very honoured and pleasantly surprised to be named as an Honorary Fellow of Borders College. I’m very proud of my affinity with the Borders having grown up and been educated there.
“I’d like to congratulate the Borders College for the development of their new campus and also for the great work they do for rugby through the BASE programme.”
The BASE programme is run in partnership with Scottish Rugby, the Winning Scotland Foundation and a number of commercial sponsors including the Buccleuch Group, New Ways, Chrysties Furnishing Centre in Hawick and Rivertree Developments.
